The challenge
A world-class fragrance house the world could not buy from.
Maison Yusif is Ghana’s first niche fragrance house. Handcrafted perfume drawn from African heritage, with a reputation that already reached well past Accra. The product was world-class. The storefront was not.
The old site read like a catalogue, not a house, and it quietly blocked the one thing the brand needed most: selling abroad. Buyers outside Ghana struggled to pay. Fulfilment was manual. Nothing followed up after a sale, a shipment or an abandoned cart. A brand built on craft was meeting the world through an experience that argued against its own price.
The approach
We rebuilt the whole customer experience, from strategy to launch. Not a reskin. The platform a house selling to the world actually needs. The surface had to carry the craft. The infrastructure underneath had to let anyone, anywhere, buy without friction.
So we solved both at once. A custom interface on top, and the plumbing beneath it: international payments, worldwide shipping, and email that runs after every sale. The brand could finally scale past its borders instead of being held inside them.
Built to sell abroad
International payments removed the biggest barrier. Buyers outside Ghana can finally check out without a workaround.
Fulfilment that scales
A shipping workflow that turned a manual, local process into worldwide order handling the team can actually run.
The brand does the selling
A custom interface that makes the storefront feel like the fragrance. Considered, warm, and never louder than it needs to be.
Automated after the sale
Confirmations, shipping updates and abandoned-cart emails now run themselves. A better experience, and far less manual work.
Strategy
A world-class African fragrance house, built to be bought anywhere without ever feeling less than luxury.
- Audience
- Fragrance buyers across Ghana, the diaspora and 15+ countries. People who already spend on craft, and expect the buying to feel as considered as the product.
- Personality
- Premium, warm, heritage-rooted, quietly global.
Heritage
Perfume drawn from African craft. The origin is the story that justifies the price, so the site tells it first.
Reach
A local reputation rebuilt as a global one: international payments, worldwide shipping, one seamless experience.
Restraint
Luxury reads as what is left out. Generous space, one accent, an interface that never shouts.
Results
Annual online revenue growth
To surpass the previous full year
Countries served
Payments & shipping
were local-only
Within six months of launch, online revenue had already passed the brand’s entire previous year. It kept climbing from there, to more than 2,500% of where it started.
None of it came from raising prices. It came from removing the barriers that had been turning international buyers away. They could finally pay, the brand finally looked worth it, and the follow-up finally happened on its own.
Growth shown as a multiple of a low starting base. Exact figures withheld to protect client confidentiality.
